Set in a quiet and peaceful location Morgans Cottage is an ideal location to explore the natural beauty of West Donegal.

Local activities in the Loughanure area include fishing (freshwater and deep sea), golf, swimming and hillwalking - Errigal and the Derryveagh mountains are only 15 minutes drive away. The beautiful blue flag beach at Carrickfinn is also a similar distance away. A trip to one of the local islands - Tory, Gola or Inishbofin - is a great way to spend a day. Gola Island has some of the best rock climbing in Ireland on its sea cliffs and a boat journey across can be arranged with Jimmy Sweeney from Bunbeg pier.

A 3 min walk from the house takes you to Casad 'n' tSugáin a popular pub for both locals and visitors to the area. From the cottage it is less than 0.5 km to the shores of Loughanure Lake. This beautiful lake is approximately 6km long by 1km wide. Loughanure has been famous for many years as an angling haven. The lake has plenty of rainbow trout, brown trout and salmon. There is an excellent angling club in the village that run competitions regularly throughout the fishing season.

You can hire a boat for fishing - or simply for pleasure. Alternatively you can amble along the lake shore and enjoy some beautiful scenery, enjoy the fresh air and watch the native wildlife which includes gannets, wild ducks and otters.

Some of the main attractions in this part of Donegal include the majestic Glenveigh National Park, the superb remote golf courses and the family orientated Dunlewey Lakeside Centre. This centre has lots of different attractions to keep all the family entertained - children's play area, farm yard, boat trips, craft shop, weaving house, audio visuals, etc.

Irish Language

Loughanure village is situated in the Donegal Gaeltacht between Gweedore and Dungloe. It is close to the village of Crolly and the town of Annagry. It has a well established Irish College which runs courses during the summer months each year. Leo's Tavern - the family home of "Clannad" and "Enya" is in the locality.

The house is within easy driving distance of Donegal Airport (10km) and is close to the N56, the main road running around Donegal from Letterkenny to Donegal Town.
